ReLite+™ and the ECOS™ Optimization Platform
Most plastic in the recycling stream will never become new plastic. ReLite+ gives that plastic a durable job in the concrete and asphalt we build with every day, and the ECOS Optimization Platform makes the result better than what it replaces.
ReLite+™:
ReLite+ is an engineered ecofiller made from qualified, difficult-to-recycle plastic. It is made without melting and without extrusion, which means it does not need the clean, single-polymer feed that conventional recycling demands.
What goes in:
ReLite+ is designed for the residual plastic that closed-loop recycling cannot economically absorb, including:
· Industrial, commercial and institutional plastic residuals, automotive plastic components and shredder residues, black and dark plastics, Bakelite and other thermoset plastics, PVC, multilayer packaging and flexible films, toner and printer-cartridge residuals.
Every feedstock is qualified and screened for contaminants before it is used.
What comes out:
Engineered particles with controlled properties, made in grades for concrete and for asphalt. Because the particles are built to a specification, every batch performs the same way regardless of the mix of plastics that went into it.
Why this works:
Extrusion needs pure, compatible plastic. Most of what the recycling system collects is neither. A concrete or asphalt ecofiller does not need to behave like resin, so it does not need to be pure. That is why ReLite+ can take plastics that other processes cannot, such as PVC and Bakelite.
Recycle what can be recycled:
ReLite+ complements closed-loop recycling. Where plastic can go back into plastic, it should. ReLite+ is for the fraction that cannot.
The ECOS™ Optimization Platform: more than plastic in concrete.
ReLite+ creates headroom in the concrete mix. The ECOS Optimization Platform spends that headroom on practical fixes for the problems producers deal with every day, using supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and other waste-derived materials.
Instead of adding one ingredient to a mix, ECOS looks at the mix as a system: the ecofiller, the SCMs, the particle packing, and the binder, all working together toward the performance the producer needs.
