Where the plastic nobody wants goes to work
Most plastic in the recycling stream will never become new plastic. We give it a second job inside the concrete and asphalt producers make every day. Same plants. Same equipment. A better material and a place for plastic to go that is built to last.
Two industries, two big problems, one gap:
9 percent: Only about 9 percent of the world's plastic waste is recycled. The rest is incinerated, landfilled, or mismanaged. (OECD, 2019 data)
8 percent: Cement is responsible for about 8 percent of global CO2 emissions. (World Cement Association)
What has been missing is a market big enough to put that plastic to work, and a product that industry will buy. Concrete and asphalt are that market, and that is where we work.
What we do:
One platform, two parts
ReLite+
An engineered ecofiller made from plastic that closed-loop recycling cannot economically absorb, including black plastics, Bakelite and other thermosets, multilayer packaging, and, for concrete grades, PVC. We do not melt it, and we do not extrude it, so it does not need a clean, single-polymer feed.
The ECOS Optimization Platform
As ReLite+ is put to work, it creates headroom in the mix. ECOS spends that headroom on practical fixes for the problems producers deal with every day, using supplementary cementitious materials and other waste-derived materials.
What producers get:
Lighter. More product on every truck, with a mix that still meets its specifications.
Less cement per performance. Designed to help reduce the cement a mix needs.
More durable. Designed to help address brittleness, porosity, early thermal cracking, alkali-silica reaction, and sulfate attack.
No green-up charge. Better performance without a premium the customer will not pay.
No new equipment. Fits the batching and mixing plants producers already run.
Concrete and asphalt. One platform for both.
Each mix is formulated to meet the standards for its application, using the producer's ingredients and preferences.
Built around the producer's list
Traction:
In production, in trials, and sized to real demand
ReLite+ has been validated through in-plant production and follow-up testing. In demanding commercial trials, large paver manufacturers used ReLite+ in both pavers and wall stone and described the result as "that’s perfect."
Producers tell us what they would need to meet daily demand. A small producer might use one super sack a day. A large producer can use 20 to 30 tonnes a day, and the biggest can use up to 200 tonnes. That is why the next step is building the facilities.
Facilities:
The Mitchell site, in Southwestern Ontario, will be the first. Its job is to show a licensable model that recyclers and waste handlers can repeat in their own regions, either as a full-scale plant or as a bolt-on unit added to an existing waste-handling facility. Either way, concrete and asphalt producers get a material they understand and want to include in their products.
The next step is building the facilities

Help build the facilities that put much-needed material in producers' hands.
Protected technology and expertise
NX-Cast's technology is protected by multiple patents pending, trademarks, and trade secrets. It is backed by decades of hands-on experience in construction, the concrete industry, the plastics sector, and waste management, which is what it takes to work across all four.
Who we are
Problem-solvers who have lived concrete and construction from the inside
NX-Cast is a materials and product development company built by people with decades of experience in construction product development, mix design, and plant operations. Our technologies are designed to work with the equipment, crews, and quality routines that producers and contractors already rely on.
