If You Fund Infrastructure or Shape Policy

Help build the facilities that put a much-needed material in producers' hands.

Both plastics and cement have worked hard on supply. What has been missing is demand for a better product and a facility that connects the two. That is what this work builds.

What you would be backing

The first processing facility is planned for the Mitchell area of Southwestern Ontario. Its job is to show a licensable model that recyclers and waste handlers can repeat in their own regions, as a full-scale plant or a bolt-on unit at an existing waste-handling facility.

The model is licensed. Through the ECOS Alliance, we intend to license it to independently operated regional facilities, so one demonstration can become many. Producers can also license ReLite+ and ECOS for their own products.

Producers already tell us what they would need, from one super sack a day to up to 200 tonnes a day. The facilities are the step between that demand and a supply they can count on.

  • Plastic. About 9 percent of plastic waste is recycled (OECD).

  • Cement. Cement accounts for about 8 percent of global CO2 emissions (World Cement Association).

  • One answer to both. ReLite+ and ECOS work on both problems at once, in products that already have a market.

More on the problem: Why It Matters.

Why it matters

  • Co-invest in a facility. Support the Mitchell site or a regional plant.

  • Back the licensable model. Help fund the network of licensed regional facilities that repeats it.

  • Host or site a facility. Municipalities and regions can offer a location and feedstock.

  • Pilot through procurement. Specify lower-carbon, plastic-diverting products in public projects.

  • Support the evidence. Help fund the life cycle assessment and credit pathways that make the benefit measurable. See Measuring the Benefit.

Why NX-Cast

Our team has decades of construction, concrete, and product development experience. ReLite+ and ECOS are patent-pending, built to fit the plants that producers already run, and licensed so each region can build its own.
